BIKE + WALK + PLAY on Louisville's streets.

West Broadway Opens September 7th

The next cycLOUvia will be on September 7th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on West Broadway from 9th Street to 26th Street.

Take a stroll, run, or ride down one of Louisville’s bustling urban corridors, not on the sidewalk, but right down the middle of the street. CycLOUvia is your opportunity to experience Louisville as you never have before, by walking, cycling, skateboarding, or dancing along infrastructure that is always there, but rarely prioritized for people.

Thousands have enjoyed Cyclouvias along Bardstown Road and Frankfort Avenue over the past few years, and the popular open streets program is expanding again.  The next Cyclouvia will occur along a nearly 2 mile stretch of West Broadway spanning from 9th Street to 26th Street.  Non-motorized users will be allowed to take over the street from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 7th, 2014. There will be police facilitated cross traffic allowed for motorists at Dr. W.J. Hodge Street and 22nd Street. TARC routes along the corridor will be slightly modified during the event.  Please click on the link at the top of this page for detour information.

Many businesses along the street will be open during the event.  In addition, food trucks, street vendors, and children’s activities will be on hand to create a unique, community atmosphere.

Streets are Louisville’s greatest public space assets, encompassing more area than the city’s already robust parks system. They run in front of each of our homes and businesses. How we use these critical public spaces will determine how our city grows and reaches its potential in the future. CycLOUvia is an important step in realizing the value of our streets by transforming them into temporary linear parks, free for the use of the entire Louisville community.
